Lending and Deposit Rates of Scheduled Commercial Banks - August 2023
Data on lending and deposit rates of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) (excluding regional rural banks and small finance banks) for the month of August 2023. Highlights: Lending Rates: The weighted average lending rate (WALR) on fresh rupee loans of SCBs increased by 24 basis points (bps) from 9.20 per cent in June 2023 to 9.44 per cent in July 2023. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed, by an order dated August 14, 2023, a monetary penalty of ₹2.00 lakh (Rupees Two Lakh only) on The Midnapore People’s Co-operative Bank Ltd., West Bengal (the bank) for non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on ‘Exposure Norms and Statutory / Other Restrictions – UCBs’ and ‘Know Your Customer (KYC) Direction, 2016’. This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of Section 47

RBI to conduct 14-day Variable Rate Reverse Repo auction under LAF on August 25, 2023
On a review of the current and evolving liquidity conditions, it has been decided to conduct a Variable Rate Reverse Repo auction on August 25, 2023, Friday, as under: Sl.
