The Reserve Bank of India has launched the 80th round of the quarterly Industrial Outlook Survey (IOS) for reference period October-December 2017 (Q3:2017-18). The survey with a good size/industry representation gives an insight into the perception of companies in the manufacturing sector about their own performance and the prospects. The assessment of business sentiments for the current quarter and expectations for the ensuing quarter are based on qualitative responses to 23 parameters covering overall business situation, financial situation, demand conditions, price, employment and profit margins. The survey provides useful forward looking inputs for policymakers, analysts and business alike.

A detailed article based on the results of four quarters of FY: 2016-17 was published in June 2017 issue of the RBI Bulletin and the results of 79th round i.e for Q2:2017-18 was published on October 4, 2017.

M/s Hansa Research Group Pvt. Ltd. has been authorised to conduct the survey for this quarter on behalf of the Reserve Bank of India. Select manufacturing companies will be approached by them to collect responses. However, other manufacturing companies, who are not approached by the agency, may also participate in this survey by downloading the survey questionnaire from the Reserve Bank’s website www.rbi.org.in. The survey questionnaire is placed under the head ‘Forms’ (available in the ‘More Links’ at the bottom of the home page) and sub-head ‘Survey’. The duly authenticated filled-in survey questionnaire may be e-mailed or faxed as per contact details given in the survey questionnaire.
